I'm a band mom. I'm like an old band geek, seeing as I wasn't able to do marching band in high school. I have a wonderful husband of 27 wonderful years. I am still deeply in love with him. And... I have two and a half children. Christy is my daughter, 14, Josh is my son, 22, and John is my sort of half-adopted son, 23. But I must run. Work beckons.
We had to put Buddy down yesterday. I cried for hours, and even now my eyes are scratchy and my nose sore. We had him for more than 11 years, and he was 14 when he went to doggy-heaven. And, so help me, if anyone tries to tell me that he isn't able to go to heaven because he doesn't have a soul, I will smush their face when I get a chance. God says that we will have all we need, and right now I think I need Buddy there with me, so there!
He is buried in our back yard, with a cross that Nick made, and his collar and tags hanging on it. He has lived with us in all the houses for the last five years; he was young and energetic when he came to live with us, jumping into the Jeep without a care in the world; and he was old, deaf, blind, arthritic, and cancer-ridden when he finally went to sleep yesterday. I wish he could have heard what I was saying to him as he passed, but he knew my face (as best he could see it) and my touch as he went. Both Josh and Christy were there, too.
When you love someone, do it with your whole self. It hurts like crazy when you lose them, but it is the only way to live!
Nothing much to add - went to see the cuz in Texas last week; saw my family there as well; didn't have enough hours or days to see everybody I would have liked to see, so I missed seeing two of my lifetime best friends [sigh]; had temps over 90 every day.
Back to work - more dead people taxes! Bet you all wish you could be me, huh? [sarc] Read A Walk to Remember and The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks during vacation - great books!
Gotta run; the computer keeps reminding me that I have tax law updates to read. Yes, you all secretly desire this type of career with its excitement and ... never mind! Love to all.
Fridays can be fun - or not! Work this am, then an afternoon and evening with my sweetheart. Tomorrow I work the band festival (because there aren't enough other parents?!?) from 6:45 - noonish. Should be "fun"! Actually, being a band geek at heart, I love this kind of stuff, so even though I have to get up early, I enjoy it.
Comment if you want; don't comment if you don't want. Love y'all, sweeties!
Okay, so it is now officially post-tax-season. To my family, I am sorry I have been such a b**ch lately - I hope that will change with enough sleep! To others, I will be re-entering life; it may just take a little time to get back to "normal" (whatever that is for me?!). I'll have a day off Friday with my spouse of almost 28 years, so we can get reacquainted. Every year I say that I won't work as much or get as stressed or what-have-you, and every year it gets worse.
Well, enough wallowing in the past! Spring is here, and I get to "play" in my flowerbeds this weekend! Woot!
Hey y'all, it's Christy, updating for my mom since she just left for work. I gave her a totally sweet layout and some awesome music. I know y'all will agree. Well, Mom's been busy alot lately, what with tax season and so on. She's working so many hours a week, I hardly see her anymore. But I did spend a good deal of the day with her yesterday, so that was a pleasant change. She's doing good, except for the stress level being so high and.... I think that's it. Comment to leave Mum lots of love!!!
